I work with people on short and feature screenplays, narrative and documentary proposals, and narrative and documentary works-in-progress in the editing stage. My approach is largely focused on looking at what the writer or filmmaker has produced thus far and discussing what his or her most deeply felt intentions are for the project. I then work with that person to bridge the gap—whether in structure, theme, character, scenes, visuals or dialogue—between the existing work and the larger goals.

Since so much of my approach is dependent upon having a dialogue with the client, my preferred way of working is through meeting, either in person or on the phone, rather than writing lengthy reports. I do, however, make numerous written notations in the screenplay or proposal, which I then return to the client.
